Leadership Perspectives from the Leaders of RPSG Group

In a panel discussion on leadership, Sabyasachi Bhattacharya, President - Group HR, conversed with Vikram Mehra, MD of Saregama; Ritesh Idnani, MD of Firstsource; and Kaushik Roy, MD of PCBL. Each leader shared their perspective on effective leadership strategies suitable for the evolving business landscape.

Vikram Mehra emphasised the necessity for leaders to remain open to challenges continuously. He said effective leadership ensures that team members understand their roles and their contributions towards a larger purpose. Vikram Mehra advised against hiring like-minded individuals, suggesting that diversity in thought leads to more robust challenge and innovation within teams. He also highlighted the importance of understanding roles for swift execution.

Ritesh Idnani focused on the qualities of speed, agility, and execution as critical components of successful leadership, which inherently foster a culture of accountability. He highlighted the importance of authenticity in leaders and the value of recognising team members who take ownership of their responsibilities. He also stressed the need for building leaders internally, fostering a culture where leadership grows organically through goal-oriented processes.

Kaushik Roy discussed leadership as the art of creating purpose and preparing internal talent for future responsibilities. He pointed out that today’s leaders must be adept at managing disruptions, with digitalisation and artificial intelligence being pivotal for future challenges. Emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in establishing meaningful connections with all stakeholders. He also emphasised innovation, agility, flexibility, humility, and self-awareness as essential qualities for contemporary leaders.

The conversation collectively focused on a modern leadership landscape, where adopting technological advancements, and maintaining diverse and dynamic team environments are crucial. The leaders provided valuable insights into transforming traditional leadership models to adapt to rapid changes and unpredictable challenges in today’s global economy.
