How Do We Generate Power?

  • The power generation process at Dhariwal Infrastructure Limited involves the combustion of coal in large boilers, producing heat energy.
    ‍
  • This heat converts water into steam at high-pressure and temperature, which is then directed onto turbine blades.
    ‍
  •  The rotation of the turbine drives an attached generator, producing electricity. The steam, after imparting energy to the turbine, is cooled, condensed, and recycled back to the boiler, following the Rankine cycle.
    ‍
  •  The generated electricity is then stepped up in voltage through transformers and distributed via power lines.

What Raw Materials Do We Need?

Coal and water are the primary raw materials for the thermal power plant.

Coal is sourced from Coal India Limited, while water is obtained from the Wardha river, about 18 km from the site.

A dedicated pipeline transports river water to the plant, where it is stored, clarified, and de-mineralized for use in power generation.

Who Buys Our Electricity?

DIL's electricity is primarily purchased by companies that distribute electricity, such as the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company, Noida Power Company, Railway Energy Management Company, and Manikaran Power.

DIL has been recognised in various national level awards for its contribution in Quality, Water Management, Best HR Practices, Safety practices, Energy Management, Environment Protection and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Notably, DIL has recently achieved remarkable milestones, securing 'The Energy and Environment Foundation Global Water Conservation Company of the Year Award 2023.'

Furthermore, its noteworthy CSR initiatives were honoured by Council of Enviro Excellence with,

  1.  Best ESG Initiative – Transforming Communities” category at the Power-GenESG & Sustainability Award 2023
  2.  "Best ESG Initiative - Water Efficiency" of Western Region category at the Power-Gen ESG & Sustainability Award 2023

For their consistent efforts in environmental protection, DIL has been consecutively awarded the highest recognition—a 5-star rating by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board—for two years in 2018 and 2019.
